Four-Member Armenia Olympic Team in Sochi


SOCHI, Russia (ArmeniaNow) — Armenian President Serge Sargisian, on a working visit to the Russian Federation February 6-9, attended the opening ceremony for the 22nd Winter Olympic Games in the southern Russian city of Sochi.

Leaders of more than four dozen states are expected to attend what the Russian hosts of the Olympics promise to become a spectacular event tonight. In total, about 60 world leaders are expected to visit in Sochi in the course of the Games taking place on February 7-23.

The representatives of the Armenian Olympic Team will be awarded with USD 30, 20, and 10 thousand, if they win gold, silver, and bronze medals respectively at the Sochi Olympics.

RIA Novosti reported that the Armenian athletes will receive $30,000 in case they win gold, $20,000 if they win silver and $10,000 in case of silver.

Skiers Sergey Mikayelyan, Artur Yeghoyan, Katya Galstyan and alpine skier Arman Serberakyan comprise the team.
