SAN FRANCISCO — The Armenian General Benevolent Union Young Professionals of Northern California (AGBU-YPNC) will host the AGBU San Francisco Winter Gala 15th Anniversary Celebration, February 13-15. The AGBU-YPNC will donate a portion of the weekend proceeds to the AGBU Humanitarian Emergency Relief Fund for Syrian and Iraqi Armenian communities.

“Being the 15th anniversary this year, we have added some exciting elements to the Winter Gala weekend, including a new venue for Gala Evening and a Kef Night where guests will learn to make a traditional Armenian dessert and enjoy local beer and wine tastings. We are thrilled to welcome the young professionals to San Francisco and eager to share all these wonderful events with likeminded professionals from all over the world,” said Noeme Chahenian, AGBU-YPNC gala co-chair.

The weekend kicks off Friday, February 13, with a welcome reception at the host hotel, the Sir Francis Drake in Union Square. Following the reception, guests will head to Venue550 where DJ Mikey Tan will spin dance music.

Saturday, February 14 brings an all-inclusive wine trip to two of Napa Valley’s top wineries, Domaine Chandon and Sterling Vineyards. The trip will include tours, tastings and a gondola ride up to Sterling. Saturday night brings a new addition to the famed weekend; an Armenian culinary experience and kef night complete with Armenian food, music and a hands-on culinary lesson in making a traditional Armenian dessert.

Sunday, February 15, brings the return of another Gala weekend favorite, the SF city walking tour. New for 2015, the tour will include progressive dinning and tasting at hotspots around the city. Sunday night features the weekend’s signature event, the 15th Anniversary Gala celebration in the stunning Pavilion By the Bay on San Francisco’s Treasure Island. Complete with dramatic views of San Francisco, the evening will feature a buffet dinner, premium open bar, and Armenian dancing to the sounds of DJ Raffy under the elegant Pavilion.

“The Winter Gala weekend has become an event the entire young professional network looks forward to and we’re proud to continue the tradition now into its 15th year. In addition to the new components of the weekend, a portion of proceeds from the events will benefit the AGBU Humanitarian Emergency Relief Fund providing aid to the ravaged Armenian communities in Syria and Iraq,” said Rose Nemet, AGBU-YPNC gala co-chair.
