YEREVAN (Armenpress) — Armenia is ready to receive, if need be, all the Armenians remaining in Syria, said Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan during an interview, adding that currently there were 15,000-17,000 Armenians in Syria.
“If they decide to come to Armenia, our state must do its best by means of joint efforts with international structures and different Armenian organizations to receive them. Naturally, we cannot provide them with flats now but we can find flats for rent, manage its fees to help people escape that circle of fire,” said Hakobyan.
During the past three months, 2,500 Syrian-Armenians have come to Armenia. Hakobyan noted that a total of 17,000 Syrian-Armenians have settled in Armenia.
