WASHINGTON — Middlesex Country Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian was one of the law enforcement leaders from around the nation who arrived in Washington on October 22 as part of Law Enforcement Leaders to Reduce Crime and Incarceration. The group focuses on effective ways to reduce incarceration for people who are mentally ill or suffering from substance abuse, while ensuring public safety. He noted, “As a Sheriff, former prosecutor and former defense attorney I have seen the justice system from many perspectives and I look forward to bringing my experiences to this crucial, important dialogue.”
