Graduate Scholarships Now Available in Culinary Arts And Nutritional Studies

NEW YORK — The New York Community Trust in conjunction with its H. Tabakoglu Scholarship Fund is currently accepting scholarship applications for the Adrina C. Kayaian Graduate Scholarship Award Program.  The deadline to apply is May 2.

To be considered for grants up to $5,000 per academic year, the candidate must be of Armenian descent and possess the appropriate credentials from any accredited school or university in food, culinary arts or nutritional services.  The candidate must demonstrate that the courses he or she is studying are appropriate and consistent with food science, nutrition, etc., graduate or undergraduate, in the United States or abroad.

This scholarship was created by her husband, Berge, and her three children in honor of the late Adrina C. Kayaian who worked for many years at the Ladies Homes Journal Magazine as an assistant food editor.   Kayaian was born in 1925, and she passed away in September 2009.  She graduated from Cornell University in 1947 with a degree in home economics.  This scholarship honors her memory and her outstanding service and professional career.
