President’s Chief of Staff Named New Defense Minister

urlYEREVAN (PanARMENIAN.Net) — President Serzh Sargsyan named his chief of staff, Vigen Sargsyan (no relations), as the country’s new defense minister, replacing Seyran Ohanyan.

President Serzh Sargsyan signed several new decrees on Monday, October 3 to form Armenia’s new government in a cabinet reshuffle following the resignation of former Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan and the appointment of Karen Karapetyan as the new premier.

By another decision, Chief of General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Yuri Khachaturov was appointed the new Secretary of the National Security Council to replace Armen Gevorgyan. The latter was named the president’s new chief of staff.

Deputy Chief of General Staff Movses Hakobyan was appointed the Chief of General Staff.

Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian was reappointed to his post.
